Your spine is unique. Your treatment should be too.

Back and neck pain can have many causes, and the same diagnosis can affect two people in different ways. So treatment shouldn't be one-size-fits-all.

Maana Spine DTX™ is our Precision Spine Care program. It starts by finding out what's causing your pain. Then your physiotherapist builds a plan around your condition, your symptoms, your daily life and your goals.

How Maana Spine DTX™ works

DTX has six stages:

  1. Assess: we find out what's causing your pain and check for anything that needs a doctor.
  2. Decompress: non-surgical spinal decompression, where it suits your condition.
  3. Restore: gentle movement, mobility work and physiotherapist-led stretching to ease pain and stiffness.
  4. Strengthen: a step-by-step exercise roadmap, from Level 1 Restore through Level 2 Stabilise and Level 3 Strengthen to Level 4 Maintain.
  5. Empower: how to sit, lift, sleep and work in ways that protect your spine, with written and app-based home exercise programmes.
  6. Maintain: in-person follow-up at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months. The 1- and 3-month follow-ups are included in your program fee; the 6- and 12-month reviews are charged separately.

A DTX program is typically 15 to 25 outpatient sessions of 60 to 75 minutes each. You'll usually see the same physiotherapist throughout, overseen by the clinic's senior physiotherapist.

Non-surgical spinal decompression, where it suits you

We use US FDA 510(k)-cleared spinal decompression technology. It's computer-controlled, and the settings are adjusted for your condition and the level of the affected disc.

Decompression isn't right for everyone. If it doesn't suit your condition, your DTX plan uses other therapies instead, such as pulsed signal therapy (PST), shockwave therapy (ESWT), physiotherapist-led stretching and exercise therapy.

How non-surgical spinal decompression works

Backed by research, and honest about it

In a 2022 sham-controlled trial, people with a recent disc herniation who had real decompression had less leg pain and better function over the following months than those given a sham treatment, and their herniations shrank more on MRI. Back pain itself didn't differ between the groups. Research overall is still growing, and the clearest finding so far is that adding decompression to structured physiotherapy gives better results than physiotherapy alone. That's why at Maana Spine it's always part of a wider, exercise-based program.

Will I need surgery?

Non-surgical care is a reasonable first step for most people with back and neck pain. Surgery stays available if you need it. If your assessment suggests you should see a surgeon, we'll tell you honestly.

Your first visit: a spine assessment

A doctor explaining a spine model to a patient at a spine assessment
  • 30 to 45 minutes with a physiotherapist
  • Your history, a symptom assessment and special tests, plus a review of any MRI, X-ray or lab reports you have
  • A physiotherapy diagnosis and a personalised plan
  • Consultation fee: ₹250
  • No doctor's referral needed. You don't need scans either: if one would help, your physiotherapist will recommend an MRI or X-ray.
  • Treatment can often start the same day, depending on your diagnosis and reports.
  • Treatment fees are worked out after your assessment. Health insurance is by reimbursement only, and we provide the documents you need for your claim.

What patients say

I was struggling with neck pain and spine-related problems when I came to know about Maana Health. I opted for a 10-day treatment package that included spinal decompression, physiotherapy and electrotherapy. After completing the treatment, I experienced significant improvement in my pain and felt great relief. I would recommend Maana Health to anyone looking for effective, non-surgical treatment options for spine-related problems.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral?

No. You can book a spine assessment directly by calling or WhatsApping +91 99950 09403, or through our online form.

How much does a spine assessment cost?

The consultation fee is ₹250. If you go ahead with treatment, your fees are worked out after your assessment, once your physiotherapist knows what your plan involves.

Is Maana Spine a doctor's clinic?

No. Maana Spine is physiotherapist-led. Your physiotherapist gives you a physiotherapy diagnosis and a treatment plan. If your symptoms suggest you need a doctor, we'll tell you.

How many sessions will I need?

A Maana Spine DTX™ program is typically 15 to 25 sessions of 60 to 75 minutes each. Your physiotherapist will suggest a number after your assessment, based on your condition.

Is spinal decompression right for me?

It depends on your condition. Your physiotherapist checks whether decompression suits you during your assessment. If it doesn't, your DTX plan uses other therapies, such as PST, shockwave therapy, stretching and exercise therapy.

Do you accept health insurance?

Insurance is by reimbursement only; we don't offer cashless treatment. We provide the documents you need to make your claim.

What should I do if my symptoms are sudden or severe?

For a medical emergency, call 112 or go to a hospital straight away. Don't wait for a clinic appointment. Symptoms such as numbness around your genitals or bottom, new problems passing urine, or leg weakness that's getting worse need emergency care.
